OUR

STORY

In 2004, after 2 years of national success, winning the JVC University film award, 3 friends, a Norfolk lad, an Oxford fella and a bloke from Stoke started their own film company and Reels in Motion was born!
2004
As our corporate clients grew in numbers and stature, we remained committed to our own development of films and documentaries and produced our first independent documentary. Roy the Red Fox Fowler, giving us our first IMDB credits and the opportunity to interview the late great Gordon Banks.
2006
We produced our first broadcast production with commercial adverts for Glector as well as a commercial for NoFear introducing their new energy drinks. Shot over in India for Glector, and rainy Manchester for No Fear!
2007
Giving back when we can has always been so important to us as a Production Company, from offering industry placements to charity skydives. Matt also became chair of Staffordshire Future Finest
2009
This was a huge year for Reels in our progression. It really put us in the national spotlight because we were involved in the production of the indie feature 'Pulp'. Reels were the leading production company with Phil Bland, Producer for the film. Pulp made history when it was sold to Microsoft to be the first indie film released through their VOD market on the XBOX.
2010
As part of the sale of 'Pulp', we just had to force ourselves to The Cannes Film Festival. It saw a week of hard work as well as a few glasses of champagne.
2012
Nick Butler, our head of Animation joined the team, we were crowned Regional Medium Production Company of the Year at the TMT Regional Awards and our give back that year saw us work with the fantastic charity Water For Africa.
2014
As our hugely talented team grew, so did our Production Facilities as we took the bold move to invest in our long-term home, The Production House. The company was also chosen to join the Goldman Sachs 10,000 business program. 6 months with the most exciting, high-growth companies in the UK.
2016
UK Top 50 Image
Saw us listed as one of the Top 100 Companies in Staffordshire alongside giants like BET365, JCB and Michelin. We also secured our RAR recommended agency for Video Production Services, all thanks to the brilliant team we are growing.
2017
A major highlight in our journey so far as we entered the Top 50 UK Production Company as presented by Televisual and EVCOM. This is a list made up of the best of the best in our industry. We are truly honoured to be rubbing shoulders with this calibre of Production Companies (and holding our own as we continue to climb, currently sitting at 37th in the UK)
2018
We welcome Carl Powell to the senior leadership team and elevate our live event production to the next level! Major new client wins with Mapei that sees the launch of Stoke Studios, the production studio space within The Production House.
2019
(Cough)……………… We move on!
2020
Reels was privileged to support the Break the Silence campaign. We ramped up our international production work, which went down well with the team (especially when you pay for the team to stay a few days!) We continue the development of the team, including us Directors.
2021
We were extremely proud to receive an EVCOM Clarion Award for our Break the Silence campaign. A true reflection that we live by our values and our team of exceptionally talented people deliver day in day out.
