Big news for the Reels in Motion team – we’re extremely excited to announce that our film Erika’s Sustainability Journey, created for Slicker Recycling, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Brand Communication category at the EVCOM London Live & Film Awards. This is a momentous moment for us, as we compete alongside some of the biggest, most respected names in the industry.
For those not familiar with the awards, the event recognises the best of the best in the video industry across events, film, communications and campaigns, with a panel of judges considering the creativity, craft and execution of all submissions.
This isn’t the first time our work with Slicker Recycling has captured attention. In July, Erika’s Sustainability Journey won Gold for Brand Communication at the EVCOM Clarion Awards, as well as picking up two other awards.
About the Film
Slicker Recycling approached us to create a video campaign designed to educate and inspire their audience to become true sustainability champions. Slicker Recycling wanted the campaign to be fun, quirky, and distinct, setting it apart in an industry typically marked by tradition. This quickly became one of our favourite projects in our twenty-year history.
After brainstorming and presenting several concepts and storyboards, Slicker Recycling chose an idea that would set them apart and give them a unique voice in the market. Thus, Erika’s Sustainability Journey was born – a video about a young hero spreading a big message.
Their bold decision has paid off, with the campaign being met with great admiration and successfully achieving its ROI and KPI targets.
But don’t just take our word for it. Slicker Recycling’s Marketing Manager, shared this glowing feedback about the project:
Erika’s Sustainability Journey has made a huge impact for us. It perfectly communicates the vital environmental messages our sector often struggles to promote in a clear and accessible way. We now have a marketing tool that educates, entertains and empowers our customers to want to make a difference and genuinely inspires them to help save the planet. It perfectly encapsulates our brand values and is already beginning to have a positive long-term impact on our business performance and growth.
Laura Carter, Managing Director
From the first edit meeting, I knew we had something special on our hands. It truly is like nothing the industry has seen before and the reaction it has received has been overwhelming. We were due to attend the annual UK Lubricants Association Sustainability Conference and we shared the video with them beforehand. They were so amazed by the video that they ended up using it to open the conference as it was “the most innovative example of driving sustainability awareness” they had ever seen. This clearly had a huge impact on our brand awareness within our industry and also on the delegates it inspired to take action and become hero’s.
Mark Olpin, Executive Chairman
It’s feedback like this that makes all the hard work worthwhile. We knew from the outset that this film had the potential to do something special, and it’s an incredible feeling to see it recognised on such a prominent stage.
Looking Ahead to the Awards Night
The awards night is set to take place on the 28th November at the Plaisterers’ Hall, London, where we’ll be celebrating alongside other industry leaders and creatives. The full details of the night and the other nominees can be found here.
We’re wishing all the nominees the best of luck and are excited to share this moment with the best in the business. But most importantly, we’re so proud of our team for their continued hard work and creativity. Being recognised twice in one year by EVCOM is no small feat, and we can’t wait to see where the journey takes us next.
