At Reels in Motion, we pride ourselves on building meaningful and lasting relationships with our clients. We’ve had the privilege of working with Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy (OSSMA) on several video projects, with our relationship spanning almost 20 years. Within that time we have helped to produce everything from adverts, to recruitment and curriculum videos.
For our latest collaboration, OSSMA approached us with the goal of refreshing and modernising their prospectus video. They wanted to present an updated vision of student life, emphasising the strengths that make OSSMA a standout choice for Year 6 students preparing to make the leap into secondary education. The focus was on showcasing not only the physical spaces – like their cutting-edge classrooms and grounds – but also the community spirit that OSSMA fosters.
Filming during term time meant we had to carefully navigate lesson changeovers and classroom availability. The school’s bustling environment, while a testament to its atmosphere, required us to be meticulous with our timing. This was well managed with pre-production, planning, and a clear schedule.
One of the key considerations for the project was to ensure that the final video would stand the test of time. With the ever-changing nature of teaching positions, such as promotions and department moves, we made the decision to focus on the students, who acted as presenters throughout the video. We were confident on the decision due to the strength of the academy’s drama department, there were plenty of students able to support.
Due to this choice, the final product is one that feels genuine and relatable. This approach not only resonates with incoming Year 6 students but also provides them with a comforting and familiar glimpse into life at OSSMA.
The final video truly captures the essence of OSSMA – a place where students thrive, are supported by a dedicated team, and are encouraged to grow both academically and personally.
