Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy (OSSMA) and Reels in Motion have built a long-standing relationship that spans nearly 20 years. During that time, we have supported the academy in producing numerous videos.

These videos include:

• Content to advertise its state-of-the-art facilities
• Curriculum videos to attract new students
• Recruitment videos
• Prospectus videos for future students
• Information videos on topics such as the SEN (Special Educational Needs) department

For this latest project, OSSMA wanted to refresh and modernise their prospectus video, showcasing the faculties, grounds, and the community culture they celebrate.

The purpose was to highlight the academy and its strengths to Year 6 students joining OSSMA in the next academic year.

With the video being filmed during term time, we had to navigate a busy environment, lesson changeovers, and classroom and pupil availability, but this was well managed with pre-production, planning, and a clear schedule.

OSSMA wanted to ensure the video would stand the test of time. Since teachers are sometimes promoted or move departments, and knowing the strength of the drama department, we decided the video should be presented by the students themselves.

The result was an approachable and relatable video, targeting those moving up from primary schools to this impressive academy in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent.
